Caecilia first obtained a MAS degree in 2006 in Computer Graphics at EPFL and a PhD degree in Computer Science (Faculty of Sciences) in 2010 at MIRALab - University of Geneva, studying the effects of extreme movements of the hip in professional ballet dancers based on motion capture data. Her research topics were motion analysis, 3D body scanning, biomechanics, ontology, image processing, segmentation, surface deformation and registration.

In collaboration with the University Hospital of Geneva, Caecilia has been awarded the 2009 Eurographics Medical 1st Prize for her paper entitled "Virtual Hip Joint: from Computer Graphics to Computer‐Assisted Diagnosis" in Münich, and the 2011 ISAKOS Achilles Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Research Award for her ballet dancers' study in Rio de Janeiro. She is also the recipient of the 2009 Walthard Prize from the University of Geneva.

Caecilia is co-founder, president and research director at artanim, a foundation dedicated to the development and promotion of motion capture. She is also co-founder and co-director at ArtiFX Sàrl, a company specialized in video production and visual effects.
